19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents his initial title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since that period of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
